Family-Owned Since 1999

Dakota Layers is located in Flandreau, South Dakota – the very heart of the Midwest. Family-owned and operated by the Ramsdells since 1999, we've always been committed to raising our hens with the greatest care and producing eggs of the highest quality. Our products go from the hens to store shelf in under 36 hours, which means that when you purchase Dakota Layers eggs, you're getting some of the freshest on the market.

We're proud to partner with local non-profit, Feeding South Dakota, to deliver fresh and nutritious eggs to nearly 100,000 underserved South Dakotans, almost half of whom are children.

We maintain Universal Egg Producers (UEP) certification for our 1.35 million hens. Our UEP membership guarantees that Dakota Layers is going above and beyond in providing a healthy and humane environment for the layers. This certification means that our farm features:

  • Extensive employee training and high expectations for caregivers
  • A balanced diet with no added hormones and constant access to hydration
