This position performs routine tasks relative to caring for healthy poultry in egg production. Daily duties include monitoring the manure system, egg flow, feed, water, and ventilation system ensuring the birds’ daily needs are being achieved while following good animal husbandry.

Pre-requisites:

UEP training
Biosecurity training
Ability to perform maintenance on equipment
Caretaker training
Pest control training
Chemical safety training
Equipment operation training
Electrical training

Responsibilities:

  1. Follow Bio-Security, Animal Husbandry, and Safety policies and practices.
  2. Perform maintenance tasks as assigned.
  3. Rodent and Pest monitoring and documentation.
  4. Chemical use as assigned.
  5. All duties as assigned by your supervisor.

Physical Requirements:

- Standing/walking-constant
- Bending, twisting, stooping, crouch, kneel, push/pull-constant
- Lifting/carrying up to 50+ pounds-constant
- Work in confined space-never
- Environment-continuously working around chickens, noise, moving machinery, and temperature changes.

The flock caretaker supervisor performs routine tasks relative to caring for healthy poultry in egg production. Daily duties include supervision of production employees, monitoring the automated house controls, manure system, egg flow, feed, water, and ventilation system ensuring the birds’ daily needs are being achieved while following good animal husbandry.

Responsibilities:

  1. Follow Bio-Security, Animal Husbandry, and Safety policies and practices and ensure they are followed by other employees
  2. Supervision of caretakers and maintenance personal.
  3. Ensure the automated controls are working correctly to provide comfortable living conditions for the birds and most efficient egg flow.
  4. Monitoring maintenance of all production equipment.
  5. Ensure shelter, feed, water, and adequate ventilation is available to meet the birds’ needs at all times.
  6. Assist at all hours of the day and night for emergency situations.
  7. Rodent and pest control monitoring.
  8. Chemical use as assigned.
  9. All duties as assigned.

Monday-Friday, 6AM to 3PM, with possible after hours emergency calls after sufficient training and possible weekends.

The QA/QC Technician position will be responsible for performing physical and visual inspections of our products within our processing facility. Responsibilities will include monitoring safety and quality programs to ensure they are meeting industry standards, customer specifications, as well as Dakota Layers’ standards. Individual will work under the surveillance of the Compliance Manager to maintain the production of high-quality products. This position requires an individual who is team-oriented and works well with others.

Responsibilities:

  1. Pre-operational inspection of the facility and equipment before daily start-up.
  2. Label verification through visual inspection of product labels for accuracy.
  3. The monitoring of the companies expected level of safety and quality through egg grading practices (HACCP). The monitoring practices of the companies HACCP Plan’s Critical Control Points (CCP’s) and Critical Quality Points (CQP’s).
  4. Technician must communicate with relevant management staff of visual findings and audit findings.
  5. Work closely with plant management (Compliance Manager, Maintenance Supervisor, Processing Manager, and Production Manager) on continuous improvements of quality issues noticed by surveillance.
  6. Assist with the maintenance and auditing of the SQF System.
  7. Verify Egg Grading Quality Equipment by surveillance of product to ensure product is meeting requirements.
  8. Surveillance of product in the cooler to ensure quality is being met.
  9. Surveillance of product in the barns to ensure quality is being met.
  10. Surveillance loading practices of shipments to ensure shipping practices are carried out properly.
  11. Identify possible efficiency improvements in the process to enhance profitability.
  12. Have a thorough understanding of companies GMP Policy and SOP’s in place to verify programs are acted on properly by all employees.
  13. Individual will also work alongside government officials from the USDA-Egg Grading Services program working on surveillance of product as well as in-plant issues which may arise and work as a team to find solutions.
  14. Individual will be trained and practice all safety and quality responsibilities within the farm complex (ex. GMP’s, Safety, HACCP, SQF).
  15. Individual will be trained and follow all farm bio-security policies and procedures.
  16. One must also be capable of lifting 50 pounds.
  17. Job responsibilities include all duties as assigned.
